How I'm Preparing for My Product Hunt Launch

How I'm Preparing for My Product Hunt Launch

I'm thrilled to share that we're gearing up for our Product Hunt launch on September 2nd. With just one week to go, I wanted to take a moment to share my thoughts, goals, and preparation process with you all.

Why Product Hunt?

Launching on Product Hunt is a significant milestone for wisp. We've been in beta for a while now, and this launch marks our official debut to a wider audience. Here's why we're excited about this opportunity:

  1. Expanding Our Reach: While our Vercel template has been our top organic traffic source so far, Product Hunt will expose us to a whole new community of potential users.

  2. SEO Boost: The visibility from Product Hunt and its syndicated sites will give our SEO a nice bump, which is always a plus for a growing startup.

  3. Strategic Timing: We've chosen to launch on a Monday. It's a sweet spot with moderate traffic and less competition compared to the busy Tuesday-Thursday period or the quieter weekends.

Setting the Bar High

I believe in aiming high, so here are the goals we've set for our launch:

  • Finish in the top 5 products of the day

  • Reach 300 upvotes

  • Gain 50 new signups

  • Convert 3 new paying customers

  • Earn valuable backlinks and coverage from Product Hunt and related sites

Even if we don't hit all these targets, the exposure and SEO benefits will be invaluable for wisp's long-term growth.

What We've Already Accomplished

Before entering this final prep phase, we've:

  • Officially launched wisp out of beta (and even secured our first paying customers!)

  • Built a community of over 300+ users

  • Hosted more than 1,500+ blog posts on our platform

  • Set up our Product Hunt launch page and "coming soon" page

  • Crafted our tagline, product description, and links

  • Created static assets using Figma

The Final Sprint

With just a week to go, here's what's on my to-do list:

  1. Add a "Launching soon on Product Hunt" link to our main website

  2. Film an introduction video (which shows me writing this very blog post!)

  3. Prepare email sequences for our existing users and supporters across various platforms

  4. Engage actively with the Product Hunt community in discussions leading up to the launch

  5. Create and schedule social media content for LinkedIn and Twitter to build anticipation

Resources That Have Been Lifesavers

I've found some incredibly helpful resources for planning our Product Hunt launch:

  1. Product Hunt's Official Launch Guide

  2. Lenny's Newsletter: How to Successfully Launch on Product Hunt

  3. Social Growth Lab's Checklist

  4. Learning Loop's Product Hunt Launch Checklist

  5. Social Growth Labs' Product Hunt Communities List

These resources have been instrumental in shaping our launch strategy, and I'll be reviewing them closely as we enter the final stretch.

I'm both nervous and excited about this launch, and I can't wait to share wisp with the Product Hunt community.
